Utilises the lower ground floor of a Grade II* listed Victorian church, St Luke's is the first free school in Camden. Offering 15 places a year, the school opened in September 2011 in a part of Camden that has a shortage of primary school places.

Existing lower halls have been transformed into twenty-first century learning environments, while the original under-croft has been further excavated to create a large reception classroom and covered external play space.

Typical of the community spirit behind St Luke’s school, the local Vicar has generously giving part of his mature garden for school open space. An excavated external area creates an ICT-enabled space for outdoor lessons.

A sensitive re-ordering of existing stone window surrounds and insertion of new doors for level access and maximum daylight was agreed in close consultation with English Heritage.
